Dolphins Dominate, Defeat Bills 38-10

The Miami Dolphins came into this game in desperate need of a win and they got it. Right from the get go, you could see this was going to be a well played game by Miami. There was no quick first quarter break down in pass coverage like in previous games (a la Colts and Falcons). This game highlighted the potential of this Miami Dolphin team if everything goes their way. Yes, Buffalo was banged up on the offensive line, but they had all their skilled position players out on the field. The Dolphins did benefit from a lot of loose balls that went their way.

The aspect that really impressed me was the great pass coverage not only on Terrell Owens, but also the whole WR core of Buffalo. The last time Owens faced this team, he had 97 yards and a touchdown, today he had a mediocre 60 yards. I wonder if TO will be baited this time to criticize his quarterback Trent Edwards and then in the next few weeks when things might go well, cry and say "He's my quarterback man!" Sean Smith covered TO well, except for a few miscues. While, Vontae Davis took a horrible pass from Trent Edwards 23 yards to the house.

This game was an all around great performance for the fins, I think Chad Henne managed very well and instead of forcing throws he scrambled around, which he is not accustomed to doing. He finished with a respectable 115 yards, going 14-22 with a td. The best aspect by far was the running game. The two-headed monster of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams performed wonders. Ronnie went 115 yards on 20 rushes with 2 tds, and Ricky went 85 yards on 16 rushes with 1 td. The "R&R Express" steamrolled the Bills today. Miami outrun Buffalo 250-46 and are now number one in the NFL in rushing offense and rushing defense.

That number one rushing defense looked great. There was consistent pressure on Trent Edwards all day, even without Joey Porter. Cameron Wake, who was already proclaimed a bust by some, literally burst out on the scene with 3 sacks. Jason Taylor on the other hand, who also was claimed to be done, added 2 sacks of his own.

All this makes a very intriguing match-up Monday night versus the New York Jets, not that it needed any more billing. These two teams always play great games no mater what their win-loss total is, much like Miami-FSU. If Miami wins, they enter the bye week only a game behind at (2-3) and they leave the Jets at (3-2). The last time Miami defeated an opponent by 28 like they did today was way back on September 8th, 2002 when they won 49-21 against Detroit. How did they fare the game after that? They beat Indianapolis 21-13...lets hope they can do the same and follow up this blow-out with another important win against the Jets.
