Super Bowl Makes You Ask What Could Have Been

March 15th, 2006. The Dolphins sign Daunte Culpepper and pass on Drew Bress. At the time it seemed smart, Drew Bress came off a shoulder injury, while Culpepper came off knee surgery. Boy were we wrong. This move by Nick Satan...ahh I mean Saban makes you think of what could have been with this franchise.

Things could have been a lot different, at the time we had a number 1 receiver in Chris Chambers and a wily veteran in Marty Booker. We had then surging 2nd year back Ronnie Brown who looked dynamic. Perhaps he never would have been as injured as he has been because he wouldn't have to run as much as he does with Bress at the helm. The (1-15) year never would have happened. Most importantly, this franchise wouldn't be in free fall, climbing its way slowly to become relevant again like in the far distant past. Now I do understand that this move isn't the only reason why we are in this current mess. Dave Wannstedt was a horrible coach and definitely ruined this team with burning out Ricky, drafting horridly, and just being a bad game manager. But after watching Drew Bress not only last night, but in the regular season, mainly our game against the Saints has to make you wonder what if we signed him? How would Ronnie have progressed? How often would we have made the playoffs in those four years since? All of these questions make for fun argument and debate, and only time will tell if this new regime under Parcells can make us relevant sooner rather than later. This regime has to fix 10 years of horrible managing and drafting. This regime in 2008 drafted a 2nd rounder that they believe has the tools, (Drew Bress was a 2nd rounder), his name is Chad Henne. Like the way Brees got his ring in Miami, lets see Henne get his ring in New Orleans in 2013. Who Dat?
