Well, today rivals the occurrences of that day back in April when Brandon Marshall signed with Miami. Both mornings were very similar, I woke up with numerous texts and missed calls which can mean something really good or really bad. In both cases, it was very good indeed. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have joined forces in Miami. I will admit I was worried Wade would have went to Chicago and I was planning a mourning ceremony, but now I'm all smiles. The Slaveforest Cafe can do anything to me tomorrow while at work and it won't bother me because this has happened and Lebron can be on the way.
However on that Lebron notion, call me crazy but I really would rather not have him here for a few reasons.
1. Wade has built his legacy here and if "The King" comes here ESPN will be all over how he is the new king of Miami blah blah blah, when everyone here knows this is "Wade's house" and it is Wade County after all. But the fickle Miami band wagoners would proclaim Lebron as the savior if the Heat wins a title with the big 3 . (Just a thought)
2. I believe Lebron's ego in the end will get in the way of doing anything special. He wants to be better than Jordan and all of that so he would want to take all the big shots and make all the points, etc. This will cause turmoil and in the end could be disastrous.
3. Most importantly, with only Wade, Bosh, Chalmers, and Beasley the heat will have $13 Million left if they both get the max. However, in the interview with Mike Wilbon both said they will take pay cuts to build a team around them. In any event, they can build a good team around that core, especially if they trade Beasley or Chalmers. You are looking at a slew of options: Raymond Felton or Andre Miller at PG, Raja Bell, Ray Allen or Rudy Fernandez at SG, Mike Miller at SF, Brenden Haywood at C. These aren't names I'm randomly picking out of the sky, these are names that have been associated with Heat trades for weeks now. This will all be possible if we stay with Wade and Bosh and don't get Lebron. Yes, getting Lebron will be history and 3/5 of the Olympic team, BUT you need a team with good role players to win a title. Not 3 max guys and a bunch of OK players.
Lets play devil's advocate here and say the Heat get a bunch of one year minimum deals if they land the big 3, what happens if things go sour? What if we make it to the East Finals and lose? All those minimum guys are going to sign again? I think not, especially with the new CBA coming out for the NBA and a lockout looming.
All in all the interview with Wade & Bosh was great and it showed Wade is a loyal person with all the temptation of Chicago, you can see his emotion and honesty in the tears in his eyes when speaking about his home.
Bosh seems happy to be here as well and I'm looking forward to what will transpire the rest of this off season. I would like to see Lebron go to NY to awaken the old Heat-Knicks rivalry, but hey having a big 3 wouldn't be too bad.
